ABOUT THE BOOK

Unveiled & Unbound: Poems of Growth & Healing

Unveiled & Unbound is the debut poetry collection by South African writer Nobuhle Z. Mabaso, exploring identity, grief, healing, tenderness, rage, spirituality, self-worth and the complicated process of finding one's way back to oneself.

First released as an eBook, the collection was later revisited for paperback, with Mabaso returning to the journals, reflections, questions, prayers, and fragments from which the poems first emerged.

Paperback Edition

Poetry · 85 pages · 6 movements

The revised paperback edition brings the collection closer to the raw voice of the original journals.

Across six movements — Unravelled, Unbound, Unspoken, Unveiled, Unhinged and Untamed — it traces an emotional journey through grief, longing, self-abandonment, silence, rage, tenderness, self-recognition and release.

Rather than presenting healing as a finished destination, the paperback makes room for contradiction and uncertainty, becoming an emotional memoir told through poetry about hearing yourself, witnessing yourself, choosing yourself and learning to belong to yourself.

eBook Edition

Poetry · 79 poems · 7 movements

The original eBook edition presents Unveiled & Unbound as a journey through healing, transformation and self-reclamation.

Moving through seven movements — Unseen, Unravelled, Unbound, Unspoken, Unveiled, Unhinged, and Untamed — the collection explores identity, tenderness, rage, sensuality, grief, and spirituality, holding space for confronting what we carry, reclaiming the self, and becoming.

Biography

Nobuhle Mabaso is a South African writer and storyteller whose work explores identity, healing, womanhood and the complicated, often beautiful process of becoming.

She has been writing for as long as she can remember — first through childhood stories and essays, and later through poetry as a way of giving language to the things she found harder to say plainly.

Her debut collection, Unveiled & Unbound: Poems of Growth & Healing, grew from that practice. Told across seven movements, the collection traces a journey through invisibility, identity, rage, tenderness, release and joy. It is both deeply personal and an invitation for readers to encounter their own becoming.

Beyond poetry, Nobuhle is drawn to personal storytelling and reflections on the ordinary experiences that shape who we are. Her writing makes room for contradiction: softness and anger, grief and joy, uncertainty and self-possession. She is less interested in presenting a finished version of herself than in telling the truth about what it means to still be unfolding.

At the heart of her work is a simple intention: to make space — for herself and for others — to simply be.
